Business & Tax Registration
Starting a business or need to register for tax? We handle TIN, VAT, and other registrations so you start off compliant from day one.
Before you can trade, invoice, or file returns in Sri Lanka, certain registrations need to be in place — a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) at minimum, and depending on your activity and turnover, VAT registration, EPF/ETF registration as an employer, and business name or company registration itself.
Getting these right from the start avoids two common problems: registering for the wrong thing (or missing one you actually need), and registering late after you’ve already started trading, which can create avoidable compliance issues.
We help individuals and businesses register correctly the first time — assessing what you actually need based on your activity, completing the registrations, and making sure you understand your ongoing obligations once you’re set up.

Common questions
What’s the difference between a TIN and VAT registration?
A TIN is your general tax identification number, required for any tax dealings with the IRD. VAT registration is separate and only required once your taxable turnover crosses the threshold (or your activity requires it regardless of turnover).
I’m a sole proprietor — do I need to register as a business?
You’ll generally need a TIN to trade and file tax, and may need a business/trade name registration locally, even without forming a company. We’ll confirm exactly what applies to you.
When do I need to register for EPF/ETF?
As soon as you employ staff, you’re generally required to register as an employer for EPF and ETF and make the relevant monthly contributions.
Can you register a new company for me too?
We coordinate closely with company incorporation where needed and handle all the tax-side registrations directly — talk to us about your specific setup.
